International Holzbau-Forum 6-8 December 2017
23. International Wood Construction Conference, Holzbau-Forum (IHF) will be held 6–8 December 2017 in Garmisch Partenkirchen, Germany. It is the most important event of the year for industrial wood construction. This is already the 18th time for Aalto University to take part in the event as an organiser.
23. International Wood Construction Conference, Holzbau-Forum (IHF) will be held 6–8 December 2017 in Garmisch Partenkirchen, Germany. It is the most important event of the year for industrial wood construction. This is already the 18th time for Aalto University to take part in the event as an organiser.
The conference provides architects, engineers and builders an opportunity to report on experiences, processes and goals related to wood structures and construction. It also provides architects, building officials, builders, craftspeople, practitioners and educators an opportunity to learn about the latest developments and to exchange experiences.
Wed 6 December: The programme begins with Positioning of wood construction: impact, developments, tendencies. There will be presentations under the themes Changes in regulatory conditions and Potentials for wood construction. Afternoon will be divided in three separate sessions: Wood in the new architecture, Digitization in construction and Workplace 4.0: The new importance of professional qualifications.
Thu 7 December: Porf. Dr. Horst Wildemann, TU Munich, talks about Rationalization potential in the construction industry. After this there will be a possibility to attend either the session of Timber structures (Modularity and space modules, Urban construction in new heights, Selected charismatic objects) or Timber engineering research and development (Adhesion, Moulding, Connecting).
Guest lecturer of the day is Michael Green, Michael Green Architecture, Vancouver, who talks about From Early Tall Wood Buildings to a Global Movement.
Fri 8 December: The programme in the morning will be divided in three simultaneous blocks. Block A: Wood construction in the Baltic States; Block B: Office and commercial buildings; Block C: Concepts and constructions for multi-storey wood construction.
Friday and the whole Forum ends with an epilog with the theme of International architecture – Lighthouse projects in and with wood.
